Content producers have been attempting to expose eateries and cafes, including well-known brands, by doing a basic iodine test ever since the news about fake paneer surfaced.The presence of starch has also been verified using a home iodine test. Another YouTuber came out to inspect upscale eateries in Mumbai that are owned by celebrities after Mohak Mangal exposed McDonald’s and Burger King for reportedly selling fake paneer.
Sarthak Sachdeva went to a number of restaurants owned by celebrities to see if they were serving phony paneer.He brought a vial of iodine tincture with him when he visited Virat Kohli’s One8 Commune, Shilpa Shetty’s Bastian, and Bobby Deol’s Someplace Else. None of the paneer chunks turned black in any of the establishments listed above, proving that they were providing only pure paneer.
Sarthak did, however, order a Chinese paneer dish when he went to Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan’s restaurant, Torii, in Khar West. After removing the paneer’s fried top, he rinsed it in a bowl of water and applied iodine drops.The paneer turned dark, surprising everyone. “Shah Rukh Khan ke restaurant mein paneer nakli tha,” the content producer stated in the video. When the video went viral, internet users were taken aback and asked how they could be certain of what they were eating at upscale restaurants.
The eatery Torii quickly replied to the popular video and explained why the paneer turned black. The presence of starch, not the paneer’s validity, is what the iodine test indicates.
