On Wednesday, Google declared that all suitable Android devices will now have access to Gemini Live with Camera and Screen Share capabilities. The IT behemoth from Mountain View revealed last week that the Google Pixel 9 and Samsung Galaxy S25 series would be able to use the features. The business is now making it available on any Android smartphones that have the Gemini app installed. Users will still need a Gemini Advanced subscription in order to access the new Gemini Live features, therefore this does not imply that the functionality is free.
Google Expands New Gemini Live Features
The Google Gemini App’s official handle announced the extension of the new Gemini Live features via a post on X, formerly known as Twitter. The tech behemoth reported that the Gemini Live with Camera and Screen Share function was well accepted. All Android devices that support the Gemini app are now receiving it.
At Google I/O last year, the Live Video and screen sharing functionalities were initially demonstrated. The business then gave a peek of it at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025, which took place over a year later. These features, which were created by Google DeepMind as part of Project Astra, enable the AI chatbot to provide real-time support via screen recording or the user’s device’s camera feed.
In order to have a discussion about what the user sees, Gemini Live with Camera may access the device’s camera feed and interpret the visual data in real-time. This implies that consumers can ask Gemini to identify a tree by pointing their camera in its direction, and the AI will be able to do it with little delay.
Similar to this, Gemini Live with Screen Share enables users to grant the AI chatbot access to their screen so it can provide support for various menus, applications, and user interfaces. Gemini will direct users to an installed picture editing app, aid them with the editing process, and then help them share the edited image via WhatsApp or other social media apps. Users can ask Gemini to help them modify an image and share it with pals.
Only Gemini Advanced customers currently have access to these two Gemini features. Google has not stated whether or when free-tier users would be able to access them. The Google One AI Premium subscription, which costs Rs. 1,950 a month, comes with the Gemini Advanced plan.
